Our Open LMS 3.8 SaaS release is out! We are very excited on the new features and functionalities.
We would love your feedback on them, so if you have tried them, please feel free to share any comments! If you haven't seen them, I invite you to read our release notes
One of our awesome new features is the Centralized Content Management tool.
This new and experimental Open LMS plugin wants to make the work for content creators easier, by offering them a centralized content repository, where they will be able to create Master Activities and resources and replicate those into course sections. Edit the Master Activity in its settings or contents and propagate those changes into all its replicated activities with just one click.
I have been meaning to post this here for a while, I apologize to those that might have been waiting for these.
As you know accessibility is one of the areas in which we focus for continuous improvement. We are both proactiva and reactive in th search for this improvement.
We have integrated Axe-core, an accessibility testing engine, that will help our developers when creating new features and functionalities, so they follow the AX standards.
We identify existing AX issues, by focusing on three main sources:
- Issues found by the internal team, when reviewing a new Moodle version or general functionalities.
- Issues found by customers or final users that are particularly interested in improving the platform’s accessibility.
- Issues found in the VPAT. For two consecutive years, we have done the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template, which allows us to identify AX issues in both the Boost and Snap theme.
Our 2020 VPATs:

Open reports: Deferred reports for admin SQL
Open LMS Admins have now the possibility to generate deferred SQL reports which allows them to create reports simultaneously and in a very efficient way for the platform. This new development uses web components a technology that we will further use in our mission to replace flash-based reports.
New Snap setting for alternative logins
If your institution uses alternative authentications methods such as CAS or SAML2, you are now able to see those alternatives logins as a separate login box. You are also able to define if your alternative login box is rendered alone or first on the login page.
The official Release Page overview is coming soon, so please stay tuned for more updates on this release.
The Open LMS 3.7 MP2 release will be available on Sandbox sites on the 9th of April and on the 16th for production sites.
We sincerely hope this new release increases your ability to achieve your teaching and learning goals.
