There seems to be quite the disagreement on our campus about what elements from the syllabus should be included in the Moodle shell. What are your thoughts on best practices for the following items and whether they should also be included on the Moodle course page?
- Course Description
- Course Learning Outcomes
- Weekly Course Learning Outcomes
Hi Jennifer. I am from the Australian TAFE/VET system and so our Moodle courses generally equate to a Unit. It is common practice to include Unit outlines, Learning Outcomes (Elements), Staff contact details, delivery and assessment schedules etc. etc.
This makes Moodle a one-stop-shop for students and ensures that we meet our quality requirements.
Thanks! That is our practice. Some of our faculty are concerned about clutter and that the information is in the syllabus. We’ve recently switched to collapsing weeks (modules) and I think that will help, but there is definitely a difference of opinion.
